This course will focus on Magnetic fields, electromagnetic relations, and magnetic circuits. The theory, operation and performance of DC and synchronous machines will be introduced. Topics include, construction of DC and synchronous generators and motors as well as types, equivalent circuits, load characteristics, applications, voltage and speed regulation, power flow, torque, and efficiency. Parallel operation of synchronous generators is also demonstrated. The course includes laboratory experimental setup for different types of DC and synchronous machines.
